Administrative Interns

Africa Peace FestivalVolunteers (both local and foriegn) are needed to assist in our administrave works at our office. The Volunteers are going to assist in organizing the upcoming Africa Peace Festival (June 30-July 7, 2012).

Areas of Specialization

  • - Sponsorship Coordinator in charge of local businesses
  • - Sponsorship Coordinator in charge of International businesses
  • - International Grant Specialist in charge of writing grant proposal
  • - Fund Raising Strategist in charge of developing models for raising funds locally

We need the Volunteers between November 15, 2011 to July 15, 2012 and a Volunteer should be willing to stay at least two weeks.

Rural Peace Project

Rural Peace Project in GhanaTeaching in deprived basic schools, Junior and Senior High Schools in rural areas- Rural Peace Project. Dates: January 30 - April 10, May 20 - August 8, October 1 - December 15 of every year.

The Volunteers would also be trained on basic peace education and emark on Community Peace Education areas where they are teaching. This involves educating communities, schools pupils and the the general public on the need to use dialogue to resolve their difference through classroom teachings, focus group discussion, workshops

Duration of volunteering: Minimum of 1months (four weeks)

Health Missions Project

Health Missions ProjectHealth Campaign in Rural Communities (Health Missions - click here to see qualification ). This involves eyes and breast screening, HIV/AIDS Test, Clean-up exercises, Education on how to use herbal medicines as first aid under hygienic conditions, etc.

Duration: project starts June 23, 2012 - July 7, 2012 thus during the Africa Peace Festival period. Volunteers on this project are also going to serve as the Medical Officers at the Peace Festival and will not pay any additional fees to participate in all the activities of the Africa Peace Festival.

Plant A Seed Project

Plant A Seed Project in GhanaPlanting A Seed, meaning giving hope to the hopeless at the critical moment when they do not have that opportunity to live a complete life. This project seeks to provide Volunteers to support children at the orphanages and Home.

Volunteers are needed at any time of their convinience. With this project, Volunteers stay at the children home to server as both their parents and class room teachers.

Peace Village

Health Missions ProjectThe Peace Village provides basic social amenities (accomodation, school buildings, toilet facilities, etc) for people in the rural ares and those communities affected by disasters like flood, storms among others.

The project is either a renovation work or building a complete new structure. Due to lack of funds at the part of AFCOPB we suggest Volunteers who wishes these facilities be commissioned in their name as Donor contribute a discussed amount into building the facilities.

In some cases, Volunteers might want to write grants or raise funds in their home countries to support building some of these facilities which we are very much ready to providing you with all the necessary documents you will need to facilitate the grant or fund raising process.

The Affected Communities' Contribution:

1. Provide local experts (mesons, carpenters, electricians etc) on the field

2. They embark on communal labor to watch sand and water

3. Some communities also provide woods

Funds raised from the Volunteers are used to buy cement, nails, iron sheets, locks, electrical cables among other.

Project seasons: December to January and May to August each year

A minimum days stay on this project is two weeks.

Conditions of Service:

1. All volunteers would undergo an intensive capacity building training to equip them enough for the task.

1. Accommodation, feeding (local dishes) and security would be provided to the volunteers in the various communities they would be posted to. After the end of the programme a grand event would be organized to award certificates of participation. download forms below:

Tourist Areas

Volta Region: Mt. Afadjato-highst mountain in Ghana, Wli Water fall, Aflabo Fall, Tagbo fall, Tsatsadu falls, Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary, Xavi Bird Sanctuary, Keta Sea Defends, Keta Slave Trade Castle etc.

Central Region: Elmina Castle-Slave Trade, Kakum National Park

Eastern Region: Aburi Water fall, Aburi Gardens, Klowem Mt.-Somanya

Side Attraction: Volunteers would be taken to one of the tourist sites

Programme Requirements for foreign and local applicants for the Rural Peace and Health Missions Project:

  • Senior High School graduate, undergraduate students or graduate
  • Able to teach English Language, Science, Mathematics, ICT in both Primary and Junior or Senior High School
  • Able to tolerate heat and live in rural areas
  • Able to speak English fluently

We are resource constrained so we ask volunteers to make some donations to cover the costs of:

  • Airport pickup upon arrival
  • Accommodation and meals in Accra upon arrival, before transfer to project site.
  • Accommodation at the project site, food and drinking water (3 meals a day)
  • Certificate of participation, recommendation letters
  • At least one trip to tourist sites
  • Drop-off at airport on departure day

Preparing for the Programme: Applicants must contact Ghanaian Embassy in their country for visa. If there are any difficulties AFCOPB would assist you.

This would be done after application form is completed and confirmation letter is received from AFCOPB. NB The Programmes Coordinator and staff would be at your service 24hours during this process.

Arrival in Ghana: A car might have been arranged to pick you up at the airport to your Hotel. AFCOPB might have arranged for accommodation (Hotel) for you in the Capital City Accra. A two day training would be done for you before you are transported to your station.
